Just Show Up: Notes from Our Fall Reflection Gathering
On September 26, friends and neighbors gathered to look back on the past few months and plan for the season ahead. We reviewed the activities that have been growing in our community, shared what we've learned, and settled on one central focus for this fall.
Our focus this season: just show up.
We can't expect others to join in what we offer if we aren't taking part in what they offer. So this season, we're making a conscious effort to be present in the life of Juneau: concerts, community suppers, cultural celebrations, fundraisers, public meetings. There's no agenda and nothing to promote. We're simply being good neighbors who care about what others care about.
It doesn't take a committee. Pick an event, ask a friend to come along, and go. If you hear about something worth attending, let us know so others can join you.
Something new at Smith Hall
Two new offerings begin this October, both open to everyone:
Who Are the Bahá'ís? is a relaxed four-part series for anyone curious about the Bahá'í Faith: its history, its teachings, and what Bahá'í community life looks like.
Book 1 study circle is a small group exploring prayer, the life of the soul, and reading and reflecting on sacred writings together. No background needed.
Continuing activities
Meaningful Conversations, hosted by Laurie, continues on alternate Thursday evenings. It's a welcoming space for honest discussion.
Children's classes are growing. We'll be reaching out to families and to organizations at Gruening Park to shape the classes around what neighbors want for their kids.
Race Unity Day was a highlight this year, and we're hoping to work with UAS on a Race Unity Day curriculum to carry that conversation further.

Everything is on our calendar at juneau.earth/juneau-bahai-calendar. Our next reflection gathering is January 9, and everyone is welcome.
