Assembly Newsletter Tuesday June 3rd 2025

Welcome to the first Juneau Assembly Newsletter. We look forward to sharing Assembly actions and updates with the community.

The newly elected Assembly met on April 28 and elected Laurie Cropley as our Chair, Caren Yerkes as vice chair, Adam Bauer as Secretary, and Soha Azargan as the Treasurer

On  May 14th the Assembly met at Jan's house and addressed these business items:

The Secretary was assigned to draft a letter of support for the newly elected NSA - this was later approved and printed in a nice card that was sent to the National office.
A feast and holyday support committee was established with Adam, Laurie and Jan to either plan feasts and holy days or better yet support community members in planning these events, the committee will report to the Assembly.

The Assembly is contributing $300 to the Smith Hall community garden as an outreach project - Go Jan and Laurie ;-)

The rental unit washer has died, it looks original to the building, The Assembly will use building account funds to purchase new washer and dryer.

On May 28, the Assembly met at Soha's new house

The secretary reports that two refurbished laptops were purchased for use by the Secretary and the Treasurer.  The old ones would not support Windows 11, and Windows 10 is nearing end of life.

A formal rental amount was agreed on for the rental unit, now that we no longer have a third party property manager.

The windows in the rental unit are old wooden frames original to the building, Jan will investigate options for energy assistance upgrades.

The Assembly took a recommendation for the community for the Assembly to study and reflect on Feast letters from National as part of our official agenda. This has been added as a regular agenda item.
